Founder & President: Mary McCormack
Mary has over 27 years of accounting experience in both the private and public sector. She maintains the IRS designation of Enrolled Agents which requires 26 hours of continuing education in tax law and ethics, keeping her up-to-date on all the latest tax law changes.
She opened Sage in 2002 and will soon celebrate her 15th year in business. Her clients and their tax preparers know they can rely on her to provide accurate financial statements. Her wealth of knowledge helps her to quickly find previous bookkeeping errors so the tax preparers can concentrate on tax rules their clients can benefit from.
She has experience in the classroom too! Mary has taught QuickBooks as well as college level business feasibility and fundamentals.
She loves to garden; is a lifelong Cubs fan; is very active in the community as past President of the Jaycees, and President and Treasurer of the Animal Welfare League of Frederick County. She and her husband Kevin, along with their two 3-legged cats live in Jefferson in a historic home they are renovating.
Office Manager: Ella
Ella came to be the office manager at Sage when her adopted family returned her while Mary was with AWLFC. Ella does not play well with others so Mary took her out of the adoption center with the intention of fostering her until a new home could be found. Within a month or so it was clear that Mary was not going to part with this cat. Ella loves when clients visit and is quite good at keeping the vole population in Jefferson to a minimum. She also likes to step on the keyboard at times and has been known to send an email before it was complete. She resides in the 10 x 20 office behind the residence. She will be 8 years old on Jan 30th.
